Finished the bike trip, then packed up the pets and bikes and drove my loaded Toyota Celica across the desert to Long Beach.
Yay, I am finally here. (Been here a couple of weeks, actually, but i'm finally de-traumatized enough that I can blog.)
Rob and I moved into a very small apartment in downtown long beach while we house hunt. We so far have not have much luck; we've offered on several and got outbid. we now have three offers on various houses that we're waiting to hear on. One of them is only half a house, really; it's in the middle of a major renovation. It will be lovely when it's finished, if it's ever finished. We would inherit some headache. Another is an adorable Craftsman bungalow. Kind of small, but oh-so charming and needs very little work.
The third is one we haven't actually seen inside; you have to make an offer to even see it. Ridiculous.
Oh, forgot about the fourth offer. It's a backup on the house we REALLY wanted, but someone beat us to the punch.
We like downtown. It's a bit rough around the edges; but we can walk everywhere--to the library, Walmart, the drug store, restaurants, the beach. Also some great bike paths close by. The weather has been mostly very nice (with a few hot afternoons). No one here has a/c, so windows are left open all the time.
I am taking one yoga class at the senior center (stop laughing). It's nice but not very challenging. I am trying another class this week. And, finally, I am getting back into writing! I've been away from itg so long, I've almost forgotten how. But I have an agent waiting to see some things so I have to get cracking.
That is all for now!
