I haven't checked in in a few days, mostly because I've been too tired, not because I haven't had WiFi.
since last time I've been through Paw Paw, WV (a dying town, charming in its own way but a bit sad), Hancock, MD, Shepherdstown, WV, and now I am in Harper's Ferry. I've gotten to do some riding but mostly I have driven the van and gotten lost. I've ended up on dead end dirt roads, and the song "Dueling Banjos"plays over and over in the back of my mind.
Harper's Ferry is fabulous, though. So much history, war and floods. Many beautifully preserved buildings and some nice museum displays. Lots of birds, too, but sadly I forgot my binoculars so not such good bird watching. I have seen a couple of nice bluebirds and a few impressive raptors.
We also toured Antietam Battlefield, which was heartbreaking. History really comes alive when you are walking in the middle of it (Or riding your bike, like I was.)
Check ya later,
Kara
