Betty Skelly: Hi Kara, been awhile I did not come here. I was busy, we went back to FL again and we got lots of sunshine. We missed the flood here in Northwest but I am thankful that our house did not sunk. We live in a hill and the house was built 1 foot up the ground. I called my friend if we have flood but then it is only at the bridge about 2 miles away from my home. Glad everything went ok. How are you? Got a new book working again huh! cool!
Garf: care to exchange link?
Kara: Hey, Betty! Good to see you. I gotta have the sunshine or I get very depressed!
Betty Skelly: Hi Kara, it is been awhile I did not visit you here but I was trying to read an updates. Happy thanksgiving and wished you have a wonderful time in CA. Wished I can get some sunshine. We are pretty much gloomy here.

Another 10 pages pass muster

  • Pages Written Today: 3
  • Where did I walk/ride? Nowhere
  • Affirmation of the Day: I am divinely inspired in all my actions.

Every two weeks, as I meet with my critique group, I hold my breath. Surely this is where the book falls apart. But my most recent offering (pages 30-40 in this draft) got a green light from my tough-as-nails critiquers.

We drove all the way to Patience's house in McKinney today. She has summer childcare issues. Then we ate lunch at Ruby Tuesday, my first time. I had a "salad" that was really more fattening than a burger would have been, even without dressing. Fried chicken bits, avocado, crumbled bacon, cheese, over a bed of greens, with a piece of garlic bread. Yum, but talk about calories! Yeesh, I was trying to be good.

I wrote only a couple of pages today, between when I got home from critique and when I had to go to yoga. After checking in on the owls, of course. The Texas owls are seldom seen these days, but the California owlets are hilarious to watch. They're just about ready to fly, and they practice pouncing on each other in the nest box. They are cuter than kittens.

Thanks for stopping by,
Kara

Hi Kara.

It sounds like you had quite the day today. From practically chewing your fingernails off out of nervousness, to worrying about your caloric intake, to laughing over the antics of your owlets, it seems you've had a pretty full day! ::giggles::

You must be feeling pretty relieved that your most recent page offerings turned out to "pass muster." You're getting closer to finishing the book now, right? Keep writing, Kara; before you know it, the book will be finished, and it will be time to move on to the next project. LOL

Thanks, Holly, for your encouragement! Sometimes it feels like I'm writing in a vacuum, so getting any feedback is noteworthy.

As a writer myself, I can definitely relate to those feelings of writing in a void, Kara. And, I understand how it feels when feedback is offered; it's a kind of reinforcement that our efforts aren't for nothing, in my opinion.

Thanks for your comment at my journal, Kara; it really is sad when a person feels so lost without another person that they don't seem to know which way to turn, who they are, or why they're even in this life. I feel that if others can visit those journals, that will show the journal authors that people do care, and that they aren't alone in this world...
