Finally.  Maybe I have a book here.  I'm not sure, but I know it needs work!

After lunch, Rob and I walked to Kidd Springs Park, where we saw the yellow-crowned night heron again.  (Not sure why he's a night heron since I've only seen him during the day, walking around in plain sight.)  There was a great egret, too, hanging out with all the ducks and turtles.  But it was a hot walk.  We were scurrying from shade spot to shade spot.

Not much else going on.  I cooked a nice pasta with broccoli and red bell pepper and I gave the kitchen a good clean, but beyond that I was pretty much a couch potato.  There wasn't anything good on TV and yet, I watched.

Woo-hoo! Congratulations on finishing the read-through, Kara!

Now, about watching television when there's nothing on worth watching... Personally, I think it's a great way to de-brief yourself, so to speak, and give your mind a chance to absorb and digest everything. I've heard that many writers find mindless entertainment a great way to de-stress after finishing the final pages (and re-writes, and read-throughs, and proof-reading, and all the rest of it) of a book. Give yourself a good break, now, and enjoy the summer weather.

Hmm, I never thought of it that way. Maybe my subconscious was absorbing and digesting and planning how to revise as I watched yet another old episode of "Friends."

It's possible, Kara. I mean, being a writer means you always have a certain amount of internal editing going on, right? So it would make sense, then, that while you may not think you're doing anything productive, your brain is actually taking the opportunity of being released for "recess" for awhile to really sink its proverbial teeth into things.
