Betty Skelly: Hi Kara, been awhile I did not come here. I was busy, we went back to FL again and we got lots of sunshine. We missed the flood here in Northwest but I am thankful that our house did not sunk. We live in a hill and the house was built 1 foot up the ground. I called my friend if we have flood but then it is only at the bridge about 2 miles away from my home. Glad everything went ok. How are you? Got a new book working again huh! cool!
Garf: care to exchange link?
Kara: Hey, Betty! Good to see you. I gotta have the sunshine or I get very depressed!
Betty Skelly: Hi Kara, it is been awhile I did not visit you here but I was trying to read an updates. Happy thanksgiving and wished you have a wonderful time in CA. Wished I can get some sunshine. We are pretty much gloomy here.
Kara: Thanks, J! The wordmeter can be found at zokuto.com. Usually I make it a "Page-O-Meter."

Yard Work

  • Where did I walk/ride? To Norma's, 7550 steps (most of that was yardwork)
  • Treasures found: 1 quarter
  • Affirmation of the Day: I can do anything I set my mind to.

I started out just wanting to do a little edging with the weed whacker, but I got carried away.  By the time I was done I had edged the whole front yard, trimmed the shrubs, weeded the flower bed (which has no flowers), pulled out several armloads of this noxious vine that takes the paint off my house, bagged and hauled the debris to the street, and swept the porch, walkway and sidewalk.  I also picked up sticks and branches from the back yard--a wheelbarrow full--and hauled those to the street.  And swept the deck.

This pretty much took all day.  I've been exhausted ever since--dehydrated, arms and legs all scratched and insect-bit, muscles aching and a headache from the heat.  I've been guzzling water all day and can't seem to get enough.  But, oh, does my yard look better.  It was starting to be something of an embarrassment.

Next weekend, maybe I'll plant flowers.

I'm going to bed now.  It's 8:30.  I'm going to try to read (I'm reading an advance copy of Jane Graves's HOT WHEELS AND HIGH HEELS and loving it!).  But I fear I'll just pass out!

Thanks for stopping by,
Kara

Oh I could use you in my yard. There is so much that needs to be done and it's becoming an embarrasment. We just bought our first home and this is the first time we've had a yard to take care of and landscaping. I guess that's what I should work on this week, if it ever stops raining. No rain all spring and now nonstop rain.

I love working in the yard, but it is definitely exhausting! You have heat and humidity to deal with, too. But isn't it great to see what you've accomplished!

Hope you got a good night's sleep.

Karen and Marianne--
It really does feel good. Unlike with writing, you see the fruits of your labor instantly! (Well, not if you're planting flower seeds!)

I've never been a yard person, unlike my green-thumbed parents, and Rob isn't either. He will mow the grass and help with other stuff if I ask him, but that's it. I think there must be a gene involved. A yard gene.

Hi Kara. You wanna come over and do my yard, too? I could sure use some help. *giggle* If I could do over three days what you managed to accomplish in one, I would be a very happy Tree, I'll tell you.

Anyway... Just dropping in to wish you a great Monday and a great week.

It's that always the way it goes. You do one little thing and then you see another thing that needs to be done. But shouldn't take too long. It keeps going like this all day and the next thing you know the whole day has passed.
